In 1940 BSA had a reduced line up in the lead up to war with 8 models in the catalogue. Two new models were introduced, the 350cc SV C12 and the 350cc OHV B29. The B29 formed the basis for the WD model B30.

250 c.c. O.H.V. Model C11 C11 or 250 c.c. O.H.V. The basic 249cc OHV model with 3 speed foot gear change. Petrol tank with oil compartment. Dry sump engine. Black frame, chrome petrol tank with silver panels lined in black and red.
350 c.c. S .V. C12 C12 or 350 c.c. S.V. The basic 350cc SV model with 3 speed foot gear change, with coil ignition. Petrol tank with oil compartment. Dry sump engine. Black frame, silver petrol tank lined in black and red.
350 c.c. O.H.V. Silver Sports Model B29 B29 or 350 c.c. O.H.V. Silver Sports. The new 350cc OHV model with duplex hairpin valve springs and 4 speed foot gear change. Black frame, chrome petrol tank with silver panels lined in black and red. Matt silver wheels with black lines.
500c.c. S.V. Model M20 M20 or 500 c.c. S.V. The 500cc SV model with valanced mudguards and petrol tank with instrument panel. Black frame, chrome petrol tank with silver panels lined in black and red. Chrome plated wheels with black centres.
600c.c. S.V. Model M21 M21 or 600 c.c. S.V. The 600cc SV model with valanced mudguards and petrol tank with instrument panel. Black frame, chrome petrol tank with silver panels lined in black and red. Chrome plated wheels with black centres.
500c.c. O.H.V. Silver Star Model M23 M23 Silver Star or 500 c.c. O.H.V. The 500cc OHV model with valanced mudguards and petrol tank with instrument panel. Black frame, chrome petrol tank with silver panels lined in black and red. Chrome plated wheels with matt silver centres.
9.86 h.p. Vee-Twin Model G14 G14 or 1,000 c.c. Vee-twin. The last year for the 986cc sidevalve V-twin, still with total loss lubrication. This was quite obsolete compared to all the other dry sump models. Black frame, chrome petrol tank with silver panels lined in maroon. Chrome plated wheels with matt silver centres. Quickly detachable and interchangeable wheels but still with hand change.
